SOCON's services in the area of underground surveying comprise:

• echometric cavern surveying using sonic and laser systems in open and cased caverns in air, water, brine as well as in gaseous or liquid hydrocarbons
• execution of CCL, pressure, temperature and dewpoint surveys
• interface determination with the aid of gamma-gamma or impulse-neutron-gamma surveys and sampling in liquids.

SOCON has five fully equipped survey trucks with winches as well as a container system for carrying out these types of survey. For performing surveys under pressure SOCON has a modern lubricator system which can be used in environments up to 300 bar. A variety of crane systems is also available so that surveying can be carried out to a large extent without the support of third party companies.
 

SOCON can look back on 30 years of experience in the field of sonar cavity surveying and this experience has enabled the company to achieve the most advanced technological development in this sector in the world. SOCON products are patent protected. Not only the tool systems but also the software needed for surveying and interpretation originate from the company's own research and development department, which ensures that hardware and software are constantly updated and further developed.


Customer-specific Developments

SOCON manufactures the tools it uses for providing services as well as the systems for continuous interface monitoring. Yet that is not all, SOCON also develops customer-specific systems for data acquisition. During recent years numerous caverns have been equipped with a blanket control system developed by SOCON.


Geodetic Survey & Mapping

In addition to the underground surveillance of cavities and caverns, SOCON also carries out the mining surveying work for monitoring the situation at the surface and preparing any maps prescribed by the authorities.


Customer Seminars

SOCON regards itself in the sector of cavern and cavity surveillance as a forum for the diverse interests of cavern operators. Seminars are therefore held at regular intervals at the head office in Giesen for promoting an exchange of experience and ideas.
